ALCOA Bin Program a Huge Success (IRC newsletter - September 2009)
This past spring, the IRC (Indiana Recycling Coalition) partnered with ALCOA and the National Recycling Coalition to distribute recycling bins to universities across the state. With the help of Franklin College, who stored the bins on their campus, the IRC distributed 1250 bins to six universities.
Alcoa generously donated bins, which were then provided to the universities who had indicated to the IRC that they could enhance recycling collection on campus if provided with the bins. Butler University is using its bins in classrooms, Hinkle Fieldhouse and at special events.
Thank you to ALCOA and NRC for allowing us to help universities from across the state to promote recycling efforts on their campuses!
Participating universities are:

AU receives IDEM grant to implement campus program
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is granting $328,754 to help 14 Indiana communities keep plastic, paper, aluminum and other recyclables out of landfills. Anderson University received $25,000 to convert itself into a more recycling-friendly campus, with plans to use the funds to purchase recycling trailers, bins and totes, and a campaign to inform students and faculty about the new recycling opportunities on campus.
