Carol A. Whetsel
Secretary for the Undergraduate Program
Why do you choose to teach/work at Anderson University?
I love everyone here in the FSB, but I'm really here because of the students. I love watching them come as shy and intimidated freshmen and emerge into confident and polished seniors ready to conquer the world.
What is something that you have been part of at AU that brings you joy?
Some call me the resident "mom" here in the Falls School of Business — part secretary, part counselor. Not only do I work for our team of professors, I also keep track of the FSB majors and notify them of upcoming job fairs and internship opportunities and listen to their everyday stories. I also have been an integral part of the VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), beginning with Dr. ElNaggar in 1996.
What do you like to do for fun?
My husband and I love to travel, and I've been lucky enough to visit 45 of the 50 states and five of the seven continents. My favorite vacation includes sun, sand, and surf! We enjoy house boating on Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee and take pleasure in spending time relaxing in the summer at the lake with our two adorable grandsons and our daughters and sons-in-law. We also own a 1931 Model A Ford and 1963 Chevy Corvair and enjoy touring with the antique car clubs.
What is one thing that makes you unique?
I am a certified PADI scuba diver; my second dive after I was certified was a shark dive in Tahiti.
