Dr. Edwards and trustees receive ratification

Dr. James L. Edwards was recently ratified to serve a five-year term as President of Anderson University by the General Assembly of the Church of God (Anderson, Ind.). Edward’s five-year term begins immediately.

In addition to his responsibilities as AU president-a position he assumed in July of 1990-Dr. Edwards has remained actively involved in the local community as well as higher-education circles. His leadership roles have included membership on the boards of directors of Saint John's Healthcare System, Citizens Banking Company, the United Way of Madison County and the Madison County Community Foundation.

Roles in higher education include the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, Independent Colleges of Indiana and the Indiana Council for Higher Education. He is a graduate of Anderson University, the Anderson University School of Theology and holds a Ph.D. degree from the Ohio State University.

Also ratified by the General Assembly of the Church of God were several persons who will serve on the Anderson University Board of Trustees. Individuals include: Kathleen Confer of St. Joseph, Mich.; Rev. Robert Culp of Toledo, Ohio; Rev. Dale Fontenot of Opelousas, La., Bill Gaither of Alexandria, Ind.; Kenneth Lockhart of Anderson, Ind.; Ann Smith of Anderson, Ind.; Dr. Edward Weippert of Goddard, Kan; and James Winner of Sharon, Pa.

Anderson University is a private, four-year, Christian liberal arts institution of approximately 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students. Established in 1917 by the Church of God, the university offers more than 60 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in business, education, theology and nursing.
