The Anderson University Chorale was recently selected to take part in a special Inaugural Gospel Celebration on Sunday, January 9, in the Pepsi Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds hosted by Governor-elect Mitch Daniels and Lt. Governor-elect Becky Skillman. The 2:30 p.m. event will also feature Christian recording artists Bill and Gloria Gaither, Sandi Patty and others. The free concert is one of several events marking inaugural activities for the State of Indiana.

The Anderson University Chorale, under the direction of conductor Dr. Richard Sowers, has received national and international recognition for their singing. Domestic tours have taken the Chorale from the campus in Anderson, Ind., to almost every region and state. Recent tours of the Anderson University Chorale have included performances in Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall; the Riverside Church in New York; the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California; and the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Five European tours have taken the Chorale to concert venues in Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Russia to name a few. A significant part of the Chorale experience is the presentation of major choral/orchestral works. Annually they perform with the Anderson (city) Symphony Orchestra and have appeared recently with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The Chorale has also performed for the American Chorale Directors Association (ACDA) Central Division Convention in Indianapolis.

The Inaugural festivities will begin on Sunday, January 9, 2005, with a morning worship service at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. That afternoon, Daniels and Skillman will host the Inaugural Gospel Celebration in the Pepsi Coliseum. The free concert will begin at 2:30 p.m.

The inaugural gala will take place on Sunday evening. It will begin with a private reception for inaugural sponsors at the Indiana State Museum. A dinner at the downtown Marriott will follow. The dance will take place in the Sagamore Ballroom at the Indiana Convention Center.

Governor-elect Daniels will begin Inauguration Day at a breakfast with hundreds of friends from the road. Daniels is inviting Hoosiers that he met from around the state to attend the inaugural events at no charge.

The Inauguration Ceremony for Governor-elect Daniels, Lt. Governor-elect Becky Skillman, Attorney General Steve Carter, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Suellen Reed will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2005, at the Pepsi Coliseum. Following the Inaugural Ceremony, Governor Daniels and Lt. Governor Skillman will travel to the Statehouse to begin work. They will conclude their day with an open house in the Governor's Office from 5-7 p.m.

Tickets for all of the inaugural events can be obtained by calling Wholesale Ticket Service at 1-800-346-2476. Tickets to the Gospel Celebration and/or the Inaugural Ceremony are available to the public at no charge. Seating is limited and available on a first-come first-served basis.
