Anderson University welcomes alumni, family and friends back home this weekend for fun and fellowship at Homecoming 2001, titled "Under Construction," October 19-20, 2001. "We’re looking forward to hosting alumni, family and friends both locally and from far distances for this year’s homecoming," said Tom Bruce, director of University Relations. "We are excited about our theme, "Under Construction", which reflects this major project, the Wellness Center, and we look forward to providing tours for those interested in getting a preview of the grandeur of this new facility."
Along with the annual homecoming football game and introduction of the homecoming king, queen and court, there will also be a 5k run, a concert by Rebecca St. James, Christian singer-songwriter, a coffeehouse presenting Greg and Rebecca Sparks and FishersNet, and a theatrical production entitled "The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr" (abridged).
According to DeLoma Combs, coordinator of Alumni Programs, there will also be displays of the different projects in the works such as the Wellness Center and the athletic department. Table displays representing the history of the campus with memorabilia and voices of past presidents will be available for observation in the Kane Dining Hall in the Student Center on campus. New this year will be a fair on University Boulevard, which will be closed to allow patrons to enjoy the food and festivities of the day. Combs also expressed that there will be more reunions among different departments this year.
"The people that come back every year are here to see their friends, professors and people they have built relationship with and those that have mentored them," said Combs. She also pointed out that many high school students and their parents will tour the campus while making decisions regarding college in the future.
