Students and faculty are grieving the loss of their friend. President Edwards expressed the following for the community:
On behalf of the Anderson University community, our prayers and concerns are with Brian Bell’s family and friends as well as all the persons who were affected by this unfortunate tragedy. As we continue to mourn the loss of our student, we will long remember the responsive compassion demonstrated by the community at large.
I want to thank the many individuals and organizations that responded so rapidly and professionally to the recent fire that tragically claimed this life. Specifically, we want to thank members of the fire and police departments who worked deliberately to bring resolution and support to the scene and the subsequent discovery of our student. We are particularly appreciative for the sensitivity to the family, students and staff who gathered during the day to await information surrounding the fire.
We also want to thank those persons, including Bixby’s Café and area churches, who provided last minute food and other supportive resources and concern for our students during this difficult time.
