Tour Anderson University

Leanne Torres

I joined the AU admissions staff the spring of 2008. My role in the office is a bit different and for me very exciting. I have the wonderful opportunity to work with younger students, so if you are in Middle School, Early High school up to your Junior year, I get to meet and work with you! I basically am here to help you experience AU early to help you make that big college choice decision! You’ll see me at youth conventions, camps, and hosting retreats and events on campus. Feel free to contact me via email at lmtorres@anderson.edu or on AIM at leannetorres

Educational Background
I studied Youth Ministry and Adolescent Studies at Judson College in Elgin, Illinois and graduated in 2004. I was active in the student senate serving as a dorm president for two years. I also was involved in several youth ministries as a volunteer.

Personal Bio
I grew up in the great city of Kokomo, Indiana. I’ve lived here and there for a few months at time for internships, but the most recent place I called home was in Des Moines, Iowa. I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and from time to time I will find a good book to read. One thing you will find me doing often is cooking and entertaining people. My husband and I love investing in people’s lives, so it’s no surprise that the one thing that gets me the most excited in life is doing ministry!

Favorite Things About AU
I love AU’s campus. The Valley is just spectacular any time of the year! I also love the opportunities students have to get involved, to stretch themselves, to serve others, and to travel. This is a great environment to grow mentally, physically (check out the Wellness center!) and spiritually! Mocha’s Joe’s has to be one of my favorite spots on campus! My husband is a Resident Director in Myers Hall, so I am looking forward to living in the dorms again and getting to know the students!

The College Search
It is never too early to start, even if you are in Middle School! Get on campus! Visit, go to sporting events, conferences, concerts, etc. Be sure to catch an overnight visit to really experience the dorm life. Definitely explore your options. There are many out there that are great for a lot of your friends, but find the one that best fits YOU!
