Opportunities for hands-on experience
We believe students learn by doing, which is why the French program integrates numerous opportunities for students to interact with other French speakers as well as French culture. Opportunities include:
Conversing in a social setting
- The French Immersion experience (an off-campus event where only French is spoken). It is a fun time where students play games, sing songs, worship, eat delicious French meals, and often converse with French and/or Francophone guests.
- The French Conversation Tables on campus, led by majors, minors, or faculty
- French-speaking guests in class
- Class trips to the Indianapolis Museum of Art or to a French restaurant
Teaching French
- Saturday morning French classes (for children or adults)
- Heritage Festival
- Tutoring local high school or current college students
