Special Opportunities

Students in the Fine Arts Studio program have the opportunity to apply for a studio each semester. These studios are located in a group configuration in an effort to foster a community of working, sharing, and the exchange of ideas.

Within the Fine Arts Studio program, students are introduced to art summer study programs, art studio centers, and art study abroad opportunities. Many of our students have had great success attending and being awarded scholarships to prestigious programs such as Chautauqua School of the Arts, Yale/Norfolk Summer Art School, the Vermont Studio Center, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. Students have studied abroad for a semester at art schools in a variety of countries, including Italy, France, England, and Australia.

Studio majors have opportunities through the work-study program as assistants to the gallery director and assisting professors who oversee the various media disciplines offered within the department. These positions provide experience and exposure to studio procedures and maintenance. Gallery assistants learn how to professionally prepare and exhibit artwork.
